SHOP WITH A COP

Rotary's annual holiday tradition.

In 2002, the Rotary Club of Tulsa initiated an annual outreach to at-risk Tulsa children who otherwise may have only negative impressions of police officers.  On a Saturday morning during the holiday shopping season, volunteer Rotarians, along with members of the Fraternal Order of Police, meet with at-risk children at an area store and go over each child's gift wish list for their parents and siblings.  While an officer and child wander through the aisles shopping for the family members, a Rotarian secretly shops for the child.  Our hope is to brighten the holidays for children and families of Celia Clinton Elementary; and show them a softer side of law enforcement that they may not have had a chance to see.
