The Iba Awards were created in 1994 to recognize an influential male and female premier athlete for success in his or her sport while also being positive role models who give back to his or her community. The awards are named after the former Oklahoma State basketball coach, who had success as a coach, leader and citizen.
Smith is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher (18,355 yards) and has run for more touchdowns (164) than any player in history. He played for Dallas in 1990-2002 and Arizona in 2003-04. His resume includes three Super Bowl victories and induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Smith’s post-NFL career includes time as an NFL football analyst and winning the third season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Smith now runs several companies spanning real estate, construction and technology. He also founded Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities with his wife to provide experiences and educational opportunities to under-served youth.
