2014-15 Nominating Committee Chair and Past President Bob McKenzie announced during the October 29 Rotary weekly meeting that Rotarian John Rains accepted nomination to serve as Rotary Club of Tulsa president for 2016-17. Rains is Vice President of Sales at Austral. He joined in April 2002, and currently chairs the Social Service Event committee. Rains served on the Board of Directors for three years as a Director-At-Large. In addition, he chaired the Technology, New Member Orientation, and Camp Enterprise committees. Rains introduced the Shop With A Cop® service project to our club, which not only brightens a child in need’s Christmas but also provides positive interaction with law enforcement officers. More than ten years later, Shop With A Cop® continues to be one our members’ favorite service projects. Rains is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Other candidates announced at the October 29 meeting include: Kacey King, Budget Chair and Secretary-Treasurer-elect; Alisha Herrera, Sergeant-at-Arms; and Sandy Siegfried, Rotary Club of Tulsa Foundation Trustee for a five-year term. Jeff Hassell will serve as Club President during the 2015-16 Rotary year.
Any member of the club may add a nominee to the proposed slate by the second Wednesday in November by submitting in writing the nomination signed by 25 members of the club. Unopposed candidates as of November 12 will be considered elected by acclamation.
On December 3 Rotarians will vote on one of the follow for a three-year term as Director-At-Large: Brian Bovaird, Katie Johnson or Carl Vincent (see nominee details below). Absentee ballots, available by request at the November 19 and 26 Rotary meetings, must be cast prior to the December 3 meeting.
In addition to the slate Rotarians will vote upon, President-elect Hassell will appoint six Service Directors and a Board Chair to serve in 2015-16. Current club president Rhonda Daniel along with 2015-16 Long-Range Planning Chair and Past President Tom Klenda will complete the 16-member Board of Directors.

Information about the nominees:
President-Nominee John Rains joined the club in 2002. A Paul Harris Fellow, he has served the club in many capacities, including Technology Chair, Shop With A Cop Chair, New Member Orientation Chair, Director at Large, Camp Enterprise Chair, and Social and Service Events Chair. His classification is Computer and Software Consultant. He is the Vice President of Sales at Austral, Inc.
Secretary/Treasurer-Elect nominee is Kacey King. Joining in 2008, his Rotary service includes Above & Beyond Chair, Vocational Projects Chair, and Club Service Director. His classification is Hotel Catering/Conferences. Kacey is the Senior Sales Manager at Doubletree Downtown Tulsa Hotel.
Sergeant-At-Arms nominee Alisha Herrera joined the Rotary Club of Tulsa in 2013 and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Her classification is Commercial Banking. She is a Vice President at Spirit Bank.
Nominated to serve a five-year term starting July 1, 2015, as a Club Foundation Trustee, Sandy Siegfried is a Club Foundation Fellow and Paul Harris Fellow. She joined the club in 2004 and has served as Budget Chair, Past Secretary Treasurer, and Club Foundation Grants Chair. Her classification is CPA Public Accounting/Taxation. She is a shareholder at Stanfield & O’Dell, P.C.
Director-At-Large Candidates – Elect one of three to serve a three-year term:
Brian currently Chairs the Interact Committee. He joined in 2001; his classification is Education-Camps and Outdoor Education. He is the CEO/Founder of CampGrit.org. He is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Joining in 2009, Katie is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow. Her classification is Insurance/Agency Management and she is President of Upshaw Johnson. She has previously served as Partners-in-Education Chair.
Joining in 2004, Carl’s classification is Real Estate Leasing and he is the General Manager of Ruffin Properties. He has served as Above & Beyond Chair, Community Service Director, Budget Chair, and Secretary/Treasurer. Carl is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow.
