On behalf of 2013-14 Nominating Committee Chair and Past President Del Dreyer, Past President Bob McKenzie announced during the October 23 Rotary weekly meeting that Rotarian Jeff Hassell had been nominated to head the Rotary Club of Tulsa for 2015-16. He would be the 102th president of the organization.
Hassell is the Senior Executive Vice President/General Counsel at The F & M Bank & Trust Company. He joined Rotary in April 1995, and currently serves as Membership Recruiting Co-Chair. Previously he served as Club Service Director, Community Projects Chair, Iba Awards Banquet Chair, Membership Development Chair, Chair of the Board, and Long Range Planning Liaison. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Club Foundation Fellow.
Other nominees introduced at the October 23 lunch meeting include: Paul Bauman, Budget Chair, Secretary-Treasurer-elect; Matthew Bristow, Sergeant-at-Arms; and Ray Tullius, Trustee. Rotarians will vote on one of the following for Director-At-Large: Kathy Gorrell, Tony Oliva, and Steve Perkins (see nominee details below). Rhonda Renz will serve as Club President during the 2014-15 Rotary year.
The slate – which will be voted upon December 4 – includes nominations for Secretary-Treasurer-elect, Sergeant-at-Arms, Rotary Club of Tulsa Foundation Trustee for a five-year term and Director-At-Large for a three-year term. Absentee ballots will be available by request at the November 20 and 27 Rotary meetings.
Any member of the club may add a nominee to the proposed slate by the second Wednesday in November by submitting in writing the nomination signed by 25 members of the club.
In addition to the slate Rotarians will vote upon, President-elect Renz will appoint six Service Directors and a Board Chair to serve in 2014-15. Current Club President Karen Kieth along with 2014-15 Long-Range Planning Chair and Past President Elaine Moore Jones will complete the 16-member Board of Directors.
Members of the 2013 Nominating Committee included Past-Presidents Del Dreyer, Bob McKenzie, Phil Lakin, Jr. and Tom Klenda; President Karen Keith, President-elect Rhonda Renz, and current Directors-at-Large John Rains, Tina Miller and John Howland.
Epilogue: There being no other nominations submitted, President Keith declared nominations closed on November 13 and those unopposed elected by acclamation. On December 4, Tony Oliva was elected to the Director-At-Large position. He will serve a three-year term on the Board and on the Nominating Committee, starting July 1, 2014.

President-Nominee Jeff Hassell joined the club in 1995. A Club Foundation Fellow and Paul Harris Fellow, he has served the club in a number of capacities, including Club Service Director, Community Projects Chair, Iba Awards Banquet Chair, Membership Development Chair, Chair of the Board, and Long Range Planning Liaison. He currently serves as Membership Recruiting Co-Chair. His classification is Law/Civil-General Practice. He is Senior Executive Vice President/General Counsel of The F & M Bank & Trust Company.
Secretary/Treasurer-Elect nominee is Paul Bauman. Joining in 2003, Bauman is a Club Foundation Fellow. His Rotary service includes Yearling Chair. His classification isCommercial Loans. Paul is a Vice President at First Bank of Owasso.
Sergeant-At-Arms Nominee Matthew Bristow joined the Rotary Club of Tulsa in 2009. His classification is Investment Banking – Restructuring, M&A. He is Managing Director of ClearRidge LLC.
Nominated to serve a five-year term starting July 1, 2014, as a Club Foundation Trustee, Ray Tullius is a Club Foundation Fellow and Paul Harris Fellow. He joined the club in 1991, and his classification is CPA /Local Firms – Retired. In the past, Ray Chaired the Budget Committee and was a Club Service Director.
Joining in 2008, Kathy is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow. Her classification is Real Estate-Sales/Residential. She is a Broker with Coldwell Banker Select. She previously served as Visitors Committee Chair. Kathy’s father is long-time Rotarian Ed Bentley.
Tony joined the club in 2008 under the classification Records Storage and Destruction. He is General Manager and Vice President of Storage Plus by Five R Inc., He is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow. He currently serves as Youth Service Director and chairs the Sponsorship Committee. Previously he co-chaired the Partners-In-Education Committee and Rotary Foundation Committee. Tony serves as the District’s Rotaract Liaison.
Joining in 2008, Steve’s classification is Computer Technology Management. He is Chief Information Officer with Hogan Taylor. He has served as Technology Committee Chair for three years.
