The Rotary Club of Tulsa held its 15th Annual International Crescendo Music Awards competition March 21-23, giving away nearly $50,000 to high school and collegiate musicians.
This year, students from as far as the Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Juilliard School of Music traveled to Tulsa to compete in the growing competition featuring divisions in voice, pian0, brass/woodwinds and strings. The competition also attracted world-renowned judges Dr. Samuel Adler for strings and Sherrill Milnes for voice.
More than 70 student contestants from across the U.S. competed in this year’s event. The People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by the audience, went to Meng-Sheng Shen, a student from the Juilliard School of Music, in the category of piano.
