During the October 24 Rotary weekly meeting, 2012-13 Nominating Committee Chair and Past President Cory Nickerson announced that Rotarian Rhonda Renz had been nominated to head the Rotary Club of Tulsa for 2014-15. She would be the 101th president of the organization.
Renz is the Executive Vice President of Commercial Client Services at SpiritBank. She joined Rotary in April 2004, and currently serves on the board as Secretary/Treasurer. During the 2011-12 Rotary year, she chaired the Large Club Conference Host Committee, and was named Rotarian of the Year. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Club Foundation Fellow.
Other nominees introduced at the October 24 lunch meeting include: Monty Curry, Budget Chair, Secretary-Treasurer-elect; Janet Rockefeller, Sergeant-at-Arms; and John Story, Trustee. Rotarians will vote on one of the following for Director-At-Large: John Howland, Desiree Doherty, and Kathy Gorrell (see nominee details below). Karen Keith will serve as Club President during the 2013-14 Rotary year.
The slate – which will be voted upon December 5 – includes nominations for Secretary-Treasurer-elect, Sergeant-at-Arms, Rotary Club of Tulsa Foundation Trustee for a five-year term and Director-At-Large for a three-year term. Absentee ballots will be available by request at the November 21 and 28 Rotary meetings.
Any member of the club may add a nominee to the proposed slate by the second Wednesday in November by submitting in writing the nomination signed by 25 members of the club.
In addition to the slate Rotarians will vote upon, President-elect Keith will appoint five Service Directors and a Board Chair to serve in 2013-14. Current Club President Tom Klenda along with 2013-14 Long-Range Planning Chair and Past President Ed Monnet will complete the 15-member Board of Directors.
Members of the 2012 Nominating Committee included Past-Presidents Cory Nickerson, Del Dreyer, Bob McKenzie and Phil Lakin, Jr.; President Tom Klenda, President-elect Karen Keith, and current Directors-at-Large Trish Kerkstra, John Rains and Tina Miller.
Information about the nominees:
President-Nominee Rhonda Renz joined the club in 2004. A Club Foundation Fellow and Paul Harris Fellow, she has served the club in many capacities, including past Director, Sergeant at Arms, Classifications Chair and Membership Development Chair. In June, 2012, then President Phil Lakin recognized Rhonda’s leadership with the Rotarian of the Year Award for her contributions to the club which included tireless hours serving as Chair of the Large Club Conferece Host Committee. Her classification is Financial Collection/Banker. She is Executive Vice President of Commerical Client Services with SpiritBank.
Secretary/Treasurer-Elect nominee is Monty Curry. Joining in 2002, Curry is a Club Foundation Fellow. His Rotary service includes Community Projects Chair. His classification is Banking Trusts/Leasing Commercial. Monty is a Senior Vice President at BancFirst.
Sergeant-At-Arms Nominee Janet Rockefeller joined the Rotary Club of Tulsa in 2010. Her classification is Convention Center/Management. She is Assistant General Manager at Tulsa Convention Center.
Nominated to serve a five-year term starting July 1, 2013, as a Club Foundation Trustee, John Story is a Club Foundation Fellow, Paul Harris Fellow and a MSNI Ambassador. He joined the club in 1989, and his classification is Real Estate-Appraisers/Commercial. John is the current Chair of New Member Orientation Committee and former Chair of Youth Service Committee.
Desiree currently Chairs the Community Service Team Committee. She joined the club in early 2008 under the classification The Parent Child Center of Tulsa. She is Executive Director of The Parent Child Center of Tulsa. She is a Club Foundation Fellow and was New Member Orientation Chair in 2011-12 and Partner-In-Education Committee Chair in 2010-11.
Joining in 2008, Kathy is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow. Her classification is Real Estate-Sales/Residential. She is a Broker Associate with RE/MAX Executives. She previoulsy served as Visitors Committee Chair. Kathy’s father is long-time Rotarian Ed Bentley.
Joining in 2006, John’s classification is Law/Commercial. He is Vice President and Attorney with Rosenstein, Fist & Ringold. He has served as Youth Exchange Chair and is currently International Service Director. John is a Club Foundation Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow.
